What is MCP and how does it work with SalaryBox?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect with external tools and data sources. SalaryBox provides an MCP server that lets AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude access your company’s staff, attendance, payroll, and leave data directly — so you can ask questions in natural language and get real-time answers without leaving your AI assistant.
Is my SalaryBox data safe when connected to an AI assistant?
Yes. The connection uses OAuth authentication, which means you log in with your SalaryBox admin credentials and authorize the AI assistant to access your data. The AI assistant currently only read your data — it cannot modify, add, or delete any records in your SalaryBox account. You can disconnect the integration at any time from your AI assistant’s settings.
Who can connect SalaryBox to an AI assistant?
Only SalaryBox admins can connect their account to an AI assistant. You will need your registered mobile number and your 4-digit SalaryBox login PIN to complete the authentication process.
Can I connect SalaryBox to AI tools other than ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. SalaryBox’s MCP server works with any AI assistant or platform that supports the Model Context Protocol. You just need to add the SalaryBox MCP server URL (https://mcp.salarybox.in/mcp) as a custom MCP server or connector in your AI tool and complete the OAuth sign-in process.
Is there any additional cost for using the MCP integration?
The MCP integration itself is free for SalaryBox users. However, the AI assistant you use (such as ChatGPT or Claude) may require its own subscription to access plugin or connector features. Check your AI assistant’s pricing for details.
